This summer I spent a month on the road documenting our National Parks and public lands amidst the second iteration of the Trump administration. I wanted to capture lasting images of these iconic places as they stood, while on the lookout for what was changing. At first glance, it really doesn’t seem like much has changed — tourists form lines at the bathrooms and visitor center registers, campsites are completely booked out months in advance and interpretation ranger programs line the dockets. But as I spoke with rangers and NPS volunteers across several parks I learned that the appearance was deliberate.
